Kuppelsaal in Wien

The third FAIR Digital Object (FDO) conference will bring together about 300 experts from all over the world to discuss:

  • Advances in the specification and application of FDOs
  • Opportunities to develop a globally accepted trust framework that can be described by four dimensions: Data Sovereignty, Transparency, Accountability and Persistence (STAP).

For decades, FDO-like approaches have proven their usefulness in the publishing and film industries, as well as in many other industrial and scientific applications. These applications require referential stability, persistent binding and encapsulation of all relevant metadata (including rights metadata), as well as unified access to data independent of local organisational structures and technologies. FDOs have also been instrumental in facilitating connections between the numerous emerging dataspaces and dataspace technologies. We therefore expect to welcome technical specialists and early-career professionals from various countries and sectors, including science, industry, and public administration. We anticipate the participation of experts ranging from policymakers to software developers.
