FDOD - Phase II
The FDO Forum devoted time to discussing the changed situation and the challenges to be addressed in Phase II. Phase I (January 2021 to June 2024) focused on understanding what an FDO is, developing the FDO specifications, determining where they fit into the landscape of suggested data standards, and developing initial implementations and applications using FDOs.
For Phase II, the FDO Forum worked on organizational changes, redefining its goals and maintaining the FDOF as an independent initiative, as well as organizing annual meetings. The organizational structure has been simplified, and the committees are being adjusted to meet changing requirements. We have worked out a lightweight governance system with more transparency and regular renewal to guide us in the coming phase. Given the increasing number of implementations and applications, FDOF will not give up its long-term plan to become a legal entity. The focus of Phase II was on consolidating and refining the specifications, intensifying the work on compliance checks and interoperability, informing people about the many applications, bringing active individuals together, working on the layered architecture of the global integrated dataspace, collaborating with industry and standards organizations on this endeavor, and addressing new challenges such as FDO operations, active FDOs, and layered architectures.
